Jay Goldberg is a public affairs professional, consumer advocate, and proud resident of Brantford, Ontario with a background in public policy and communications.

He holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Toronto, where his academic research focused on elections, political behaviour, and fiscal policy. During his time in academia, Jay was awarded more than 25 scholarships and academic awards across his undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral studies.

After beginning his career in academic research at the Munk School of Public Policy and Global Affairs, Jay transitioned into public policy advocacy to pursue more direct, real-world impact. From 2021 to 2025, he served as Ontario Director for the Canadian Taxpayers Federation, acting as the organization’s lead spokesperson in Ontario and Atlantic Canada.

In this role, Jay conducted extensive policy research, developed pre-budget submissions, engaged with elected officials, and led advocacy campaigns focused on fiscal responsibility and government accountability. He delivered more than 1,000 television and radio interviews, published over 250 opinion editorials, and testified before government committees across multiple provinces.

Jay currently serves as Canadian Affairs Manager for the Consumer Choice Center, where he advocates for increased consumer choice and balanced regulatory policy. His work involves engaging with policymakers, media outlets, and stakeholders on issues affecting affordability, competition, and economic opportunity.

In addition to his advocacy work, Jay is a regular syndicated columnist with the Postmedia network, writing weekly on issues affecting taxpayers and consumers across Canada.

Public Policy & Advocacy

Jay has worked extensively in communications, advocacy, and policy development at both the academic and organizational levels.

 

His professional experience includes:

  • Serving as a key national spokesperson on public policy issues
